Iron is one of the minerals that women need more than men. During menstruation, a women loses about 50 ml of blood per month which corresponds to a loss of 25 mg of iron. Iron deficiency occurs if this loss is not compensated by a daily intake of a dietary supplement. Most young menstrual women have reduced iron reserves.About 20% of women suffer from iron deficiency before menopause.
